BABY MASSAGE

Touch is the first sense that is developed by a baby when growing inside the womb.  So it’s vital that this sense carries on as soon as the baby enters into the big world outside.  Touch will help your baby grow both physically and emotionally, and will allow you as parents to learn to communicate with your child.

Baby Massage, originating from a mixture of Indian and Swedish massage, reflexology and yoga, is a tradition that is still widely practised in many countries worldwide.  It has been passed down from generation to generation and not only will new mothers benefit from it, but new fathers should get involved and discover the advantages too.

Some benefits of massage for the baby:

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Improves blood circulation and skin conditionBaby Massage Whole Body
  • Can help baby sleep better
  • Helps digestion (to help relieve constipation and colic)
  • Helps joints to remain flexible and encourages muscle co-ordination
  • Helps improve the parent-baby bonding as child will feel more loved
  • Relieves blocked sinuses or teething pains

Some benefits for the parents can be:

  • Learning about your baby’s needs with every cry
  • Bonding with your baby
  • Helping to build yours and the baby’s self-esteem
  • Relaxing the parents and allows special time with your baby

Baby massage can occur as soon as the infant is born, once you as parents feel comfortable enough to do this. As you gain more experience massaging your baby, you will get to know his/her likes and dislikes and can then tailor the massage to his/her needs. The massage can be given as long as the child allows it (My twins were massaged until they got to being 8 years old).

BABY REFLEXOLOGY

Being a reflexologist first and foremost, I know how therapeutic the therapy is and how beneficial it is too. Babies are especially responsive to reflexology. Many mothers will instinctively rub their children’s feet and hands when their child is cranky, crying, or uncomfortable. Reflexology works very well for most babies.

Using the same techniques that would be used on an adult, why not equip yourself with tools and skills that will help you have a happy healthy baby or to be able to calm your baby if they have suddenly become frantic or are in pain.

Some of the benefits of baby reflexology are similar to baby massage but may help with:

  • Teething
  • Coughs and Colds
  • Constipation
  • Digestive complaints such as being windy
  • Anxiety
  • Improving sleep
  • Earaches
  • Reflux and Colic
  • Calm a crying baby

The advantages of baby reflexology are that you can do the treatment whilst the baby is clothed and also whilst they are sleeping too so as not have to disturb them.

You will be taught certain points throughout the 5 week course (not in any particular order) in combination with the massage moves and a full routine so that you will be able to carry this out on your baby everyday and have a happy healthy baby.

**Please note that any treatments carried out in those under the age of 16 will always require a parent/guardian to be present throughout the treatment and sign off on the consultation form.  A treatment without the presence of a responsible adult will NOT be carried out**
